Prepping for the Holiday Season

Sorry for the super light posting (all two of my loyal readers), this is my insane time of year at work and by the time I get home it is all I can do to remain upright on the couch without drooling.  Yay, work!  So, now that it is officially November I can start fretting about what to wear to upcoming holiday soirees.  (That’s fancy talk for party.)  This year both my work holiday luncheon and my husband’s super fancy holiday work party are on the same day.  That is a whole lot of partying in one day for this old broad.

I’ve already started the hunt for what I’m going to wear to my hubs’ party.  It’s fancy you guys.  FANCY.  Ball gowns are not out of the norm.  I have five weeks and four days to find something and am already freaking out.  I was trying to convey my petty concern about this to my husband and our conversation went like this.

Me:  “I’ve got to find something to wear to your work party.”

Hubs:  “You should just wear what you wore last year.”

Me:  (Looking at him like he was insane.)   “I’m not going to wear what I wore last year!  Are you crazy?”

Hubs:  “Uh…  What?”

Me:  “You are out of your mind.  Women do NOT wear the same dress to a fancy party year after year.”

I can’t decide if I want to go traditional short sparkly party dress, ball gown or something totally edgy and different.  I hate spending money on something that I will rarely ever wear (i.e. sparkly party dress or ball gown).  Plus, a ball gown would make me feel like I was going to prom and I hated high school, so that is probably out. I’ve thought about doing Rent the Runway, but I’m picky and hard to fit and would kick myself if I spent money on a rental and then hated the dress or it didn’t fit right.

I also don’t want to look like a ho bag. You guys… It’s like sluts-o-rama out there in party dress land. It’s insane with all the cut up to there, cut down to there, backless, strapless, plunge, see through dresses out there. How does anyone find a bra that works with that? As a chesty person, bra-less is NOT an option. So many dresses, that just won’t work with these glorious ta-tas.  And I’m a prude anyway.  So there’s that.

Here are a few items that have caught my eye… Plus I can wear a bra with all of them. Woot!

Holiday Items
1. / 2. / 3. / 4. / 5. / 6. / 7. / 8. / 9.

I’m really leaning towards doing something unexpected and different.  My top picks are numbers 1, 4, 5 and 9.  This would certainly guarantee that no one would be wearing the same dress as me…  That would be LAME.

Something like this might be fun…  Sparkly, but chic and different.
