40 + Style I Wore This Winter

The Red Coats Are Coming

I have reverted back to my 7th grade self.  I will ALWAYS laugh at fart and poop jokes, but I mean fashion wise.  You see, I’ve hopped back on the preppy train, minus the skinny ties and massive shoulder pads.  You guys…  I had a black leather skinny tie that I loved to wear with my purple Oxford shirt,  penny loafers and a sweater draped over my shoulders.  Oh, those were very good times.

This time around, I’m loving the equestrian look with blazers, boots and interesting textures:  Wool, velvet and pebbled leather (with tassels!).  I am a refined grown ass woman now, so I can do what I want and wear what I want.  Plus, my mom doesn’t have to drive me to the mall.  So.  That.

We had a warmish day in Detroit (it was 41 degrees), so I was able to wear my velvet blazer with a scarf whilst walking around downtown.  We hit the DIA and Henry the Hatter so my hubs could have me approve the hat he wanted.  I approved one.  The best thing about this blazer?  Yeah…  It’s from Target.  And was less than $40.  They don’t carry this in the stores.  It is an online exclusive (so fancy) and is now on clearance for $27.98.  I may have ordered the black one as well.  I tend to find an item that I like and buy it in several colors.
