Basics Two Ways | Mini Dot Oxford and Black Pencil Skirt

I’m not going to lie, the new fall stuff is calling my name BIG time. It is my favorite clothes season, you know. So many great colors, great textures, and boots!  However, I’m still trying to enjoy summer, which is my favorite actual season, while it lasts. I’m saving my moola for those aforementioned new fall items, and I’m pulling out my old reliable basics again in an effort to get me through these last few weeks of summer.

You know me… I love my basics. Always will. They are just so dang easy and you can change your accessories and shoes to make them to look dressy or casual. A great necklace can make a really basic shirt pop. I wore this to work. Funny thing is, I ran some errands at lunch and got tons of compliments on my necklace. You wouldn’t notice it if I had on some crazy, busy, jazzy shirt. Basics = good.

When the heels start hurting (and they always do) you can slip on some flats and throw on a denim jacket for a more relaxed, casual look. Still cute, but less fussy. Or school marmish. Or shushy librarian. Or mean HR lady.

(What is up with the crazy eyes?)

Add a ball cap for an even more casual look (i.e. you just fell out of a J. Crew catalog). ROLL TIDE!

  1. I love this outfit! During the summer months I’m usually running from work right to something super casual and I never seem to pull off making my office outfit look appropriate. I love how you accomplished it here.

  2. I’ve never really thought of pairing my denim jacket with any of my pencil skirts. Thanks for the great inspiration! Love your little polka dot top!
