40 + Style Casual / Weekend Wear Fall/Autumn I Wore This

Retro Inspired Sweatshirt | Sweet Retro New Balance Kicks

OK friends… What this post SHOULD have been titled was “High School Senior Portraits” or “Me and Trees” because…  Ummm… Yeah…

Let me give you a bit of a back story, so you don’t think I’ve completely fallen off of my rocker. The Mister gave me a new camera lens for my birthday, which was last Friday. (I’m 43. WOOT!)  My old 50mm F/1.8 lens kicked the bucket recently. It quit focusing and I couldn’t get a clear photo with it to save my life. (I can’t complain too much though, because it was super cheap and that thing lasted me for about 12 years.) He upgraded me to the 50mm F/1.4, which is a much better lens. Muy bueno. So, we were roaming around testing it out. Next to trees… Lots of trees…

So, anyhoo…

About this sweatshirt… J. Crew strikes again! I love the retro styling. It’s got a late 70’s/early 80’s vibe which is totally up my alley. I knew from the first instant that I saw it that it would need to come home with me, but seeing as though I am totally frugal, I waited until I could get it on sale. YAY!

Where did I wear this? I wore this out and about on Saturday for a spa day and to crappy Chinese food. GACK. So gross.

  1. Your make-up looks so great here! And I love those kicks! Great outfit and yay fancy lens! And happy birthday! Okay. Must stop with the exclamation points. Ha.

    1. Thank you! On Saturday I had a lovely spa day and as a part of that they did my makeup. I learned a few new tricks from the woman who did my face. She made my eyes pop out of my face! She has magical makeup skills.

  2. Lucky you on the new lens! I really need to get one so I can use it inside during the upcoming Winter from Hell that we are going to suffer through again. Winter is coming! Winter is coming!

    I love that shirt.

Too bad about the crappy Chinese food. I hate it when I pay for food that is awful.

    1. Don’t you wonder what we did to deserve a second hellish winter? I mean besides the whole global warming stuff and everything…

I hate it when I pay for yucky food too.

  3. Just stumbled upon your blog and love it! The J Crew matchstick jeans from the factory – do they run true to size for you? Considering ordering them.

  4. love, love those sneaks! and the knee-up-leaning-on-tree-pose was standard senior pose our generation, right?!? And i’m glad you mentioned the lens – my 1.8 is dying a slow death and I think I just need to buy me a new one, too 🙂

  5. Pretty cute and joggy … love your shoes, and nice that you have a real reason to wear them! So sorry the Chinese was icky. But you looked athletically polished for the occasion.
