40 + Style Casual / Weekend Wear Fall/Autumn

Transitioning to Fall in Olive Green Gingham

I love that gingham is a thing. This shirt makes me especially happy, because it is a dark olive green and the gingham checks are bigger than normal. The color works well with my coloring (yay!), and the larger than normal gingham check pattern adds a bit of interest.

This shirt has been great for early fall. It’s a nice weight cotton poplin so it’s breathable on those warmer fall days, and the color says “hey fall is coming…  let’s go get a pumpkin spice latte”. I foresee it being layered under blazers and sweaters as the temperatures drop.

  1. Hi Ashley,

I am new to your blog. Your outfits are adorable, and you have a real knack for putting things together. I wore this same shirt over the weekend tucked into the green J Crew Sammie pant with animal print flats. Husband thought I looked great.

    1. Thanks for saying “hi”, Betty! Sounds like you are a J. Crew fan like me. I bought the Sammie chinos in the regular khaki color after falling in love with the maroon pair I bought. I love the shape. That little kick hem is just too good.
