Hi friends! I hope you are having a wonderful week. I have a couple of Everlane reviews for you today. I’d like to apologize for the boring photos, but this is all I can manage lately. Between traveling, kid activities and the horrendous weather we have been having I haven’t been able to get out to shoot anything. It has been incredibly rainy and cold here in Detroit. We’ve had several days with highs only in the 40’s. Ummmm… What? It’s May. What is going on?!? I can’t handle much more of this.
Everlane – Linen Shirt Dress ($78.00)
When I saw the Linen Shirt Dress hit the Everlane site, I knew I had to give it a whirl. I’ve extolled the virtues of a shirt dress on many occasions, and have worn them many times on zee blog. I like them. Actually, I love them. Why did I want this one? The black linen sucked me in. Something about black linen just screams “chic” to me. Last year Everlane offered this same dress, but not in black. I’m glad they added black to the color options this year.
I also like the fact that the Everlane shirt dresses tend to be a bit longer than other options out there, thus they are suitable for work. As I mature, I’m less comfortable flashing a lot of leg. Especially at work. OK, anywhere really. I’m pretty modest for as crazy as I am.
What do I like?
Obviously I like the style. Duh, Ashley… Everyone knows that already. <insert eye roll here>
The fabric is SO good. It’s nice and thick and crisp. Think Eileen Fisher quality of linen. Of course, Eileen Fisher items will be 2 to 3 times more expensive, so your quality to cost ratio is quite high.
I love that it has pockets. Pockets make me so happy. They are nice and deep too, not those teeny tiny pockets that everything falls out of when you sit down. Blergh.
What don’t I like?
There is a button gap issue when you sit in this dress. This is actually an issue with all of my Everlane shirt dresses. Frankly, I think it is because I’ve got some junk in my trunk. However, I wish that they would consider women’s curves a bit more into the design equation. Grechen from Grechen’s Closet reviewed this dress and had the exact same complaint. Is it enough of an issue for me to send it back? No. I can deal.
This is the first Everlane order in forever that I haven’t had to exchange for another size. I generally wear a 10 in tops or dresses, but I’m wearing a size 8. It’s roomy, so size down. (I just checked sizing in the black and at the time of this post they are sold out of size 8, 10, 12. DANG. You can always add your name to the wait-list.)
Would I recommend it?
Everlane Modern Loafer Mules ($155.00)
I’m about the mules. ALL ABOUT THEM. I have zero problems with re-embracing this trend. I was set to purchase the Everlane Modern Loafer Mules the instant that they hit the site, but then I was traveling so much I held off for a bit. I eventually hit “add to cart” and am really pleased. I know these are going to be in high rotation this spring/summer.
What do I like?
The style of these mules is perfect. I cannot believe how versatile they are! They work equally well with dressy or casual outfits. I wore them with jeans and a black silk shirt and they really completed the outfit. I think that these are a great alternative option for sandals. Especially at the office. My office allows sandals, but I know many do not.
What don’t I like?
Really no complaints. They are a bit stiff and going to take a few wears to break in, but that is to be expected from any new shoe. I wore them to work all day for their maiden voyage and didn’t get any blisters. I had a couple of red spots where they rubbed, but nothing major. They were already more comfortable on their second outing.
I think these run just a wee bit small. I used to be a solid size 8, but now I lean more towards an 8.5. Usually when I get an 8.5 they tend to be roomy. I got these in an 8.5 and they fit like a glove, hence I think they run just a tad bit small.
Would I recommend them?
Yup. Two thumbs up.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know if you have any questions about either of these items. Or anything else.
PS – I’m sure that all of you have already signed up with Everlane, but if not use my referral link. Full disclosure: If you end up buying something I’ll get a $25 credit.
