J. Crew is Bringing Back the Classics

My very first purchase from J. Crew was a rugby shirt. This occurred in 1990, when I was in college at the University of Alabama. ROLL TIDE! I seem to recall that I had to have my mom order it for me and I paid her back. I probably didn’t have a credit card. You know…  Because I was barely eighteen. I was one of those kids that actually started college when I was seventeen. Young.

I wore that dang rugby shirt for years. It was a preppy frat boy/sorority girl classic. Then they quit making them and I was saddened. There were SO many great classics that J. Crew has had through the years that should have never been retired. Wool roll neck sweaters? Am I right? I was thrilled to see when J. Crew offered a rugby shirt this past summer, but the colors were way too bright for my liking. Enter the fall rugby shirts…

Hello smoky olive.

You better believe that I added that to cart immediately. I love it. I love it. I love it! It’s super soft, and incredibly comfy. The fabric is not as thick as the old school rugby shirts, that were frankly better suited for actual rugby players than sorority girls. It also has a more feminine cut. It’s slimmer and a bit cropped, but not too cropped. Just right. Like Goldilocks.
