Do you have a great black blazer? If not, you have a MAJOR hole in your wardrobe. Actually, it’s OK to have several great black blazers. There are so many different silhouettes and fabrics. Of course, this is coming from a person who has a serious addiction to blazers lately. I have an oversized black blazer that I wear here on the blog often. I most recently wore it here. It’s a workhorse for sure.
As much as I wear that blazer, it doesn’t work in every situation. There are some outfits that call for something less oversize, something a little less casual, or just something different. I knew that a more fitted black blazer would fill that gap so I had it on my mental “closet hole list” for a while. Do you have one of those? That’s the list of basics that you need. I’m not talking about wants or frivolous show ponies. (Hello pink sequin skirt, I’m talking to you.) These are good, solid basics that will stand the test of time.
J. Crew came through with filling that hole with the Going Out Blazer. It fits great and also comes in several colors of velvet. I chose the non-velvet option, because I wanted something that was more versatile. This option is a nice weight and will certainly be wearable for fall, winter and spring.
