Gotta love a season that encourages the wear of sequin clothing items. Yes, folks… We have entered the holiday season! Sequins, metallic fabrics, or sparkly doo-dads and what-nots are pretty much a requirement. I bought this sequin skirt back in the summer from J. Crew (previously styled here) and knew that it would come in handy during the holidays. I don’t know about you, but I have a few holiday functions that I am going to. I plan to wear as many sequins as I can.
I do love the sequin skirt. It’s a classic style and I know it will remain in my wardrobe for years to come. Is it going to get a lot of use? No. She’s just for special occasions, but she’ll be around waiting to pull out some “pow” when I bring her out.
I plan to wear this to my work holiday function. It’s a mid-week early evening event, so this says “hey, I’m festive, but also a professional”. Work parties are always interesting. I’m an introvert so these types of events are NOT my thing at all. I really do have social anxiety when thrown into these types of situations. It’s work people, but we are supposed to socialize… And there are so many of them… What do I say? Where should I sit? Where are my people? Where do I put my hands??? ACK!
Here’s my conundrum… I like dressing up all fancy and stuff, but don’t really like going out. I like my house. I like small groups. I also like my stretchy pants. What can I say? I’m an introvert.
Wearing: Sweater – Everlane, Skirt – J. Crew, Booties – Loeffler Randall, Necklace – J. Crew (old), Bag – Celine.
I’ve rounded up some more awesome sequin skirts for you. I’d wear any of these! I especially love the one on the top right and the one on the bottom left. We need to figure out a way to wear sequins more often. Anyone want to jump on the “make sequins OK for everyday” bandwagon with me? Let’s do this!
