Life Lately and a “Me” Outfit

Ummm…  Hi…

If you have been reading the blog for a while then you know that I tend to disappear in the months of January and February. It’s due to horrendous weather and my crazy time of the year at work. December wasn’t great either, weather-wise. I’m on the final stretch of the craziness at work, and we had a few warm days so I could get out and take a few pictures.

So what else has been going on?

I’ve been really good about going to the gym. I’m averaging about 5 times per week. Yes, it sucks waking up at 5:00 AM and hitting the gym before work, but I’ve noticed that if I skip, I really regret it. I feel SO much better when I go to the gym. It really has improved my energy levels and my mental health. I’m less impacted by stressful days. I haven’t lost much weight, but my body is changing. I’m more toned. My thighs have gotten smaller and I have a wee bit of muscle definition in my arms. Go me.

I’m still growing my gray/gray hair out, but I don’t know if I can handle it. It’s been about 6 months and it’s at this super awkward phase. I either have to chop off all my hair, or start highlighting it again. I’m not sure which option is going to win out. I have a hair appointment next weekend, so don’t be surprised if I succumb to the hair dye. I’m weak you guys. I’m a weak, weak, quitter.

My son got his driver’s license and it’s so hard letting him get in a car and just GO. OMG. My baby! Oh, and insurance…  Good grief. That’s super expensive now. Kids are expensive.

Do you guys find this time of year hard for fashion/clothes? I’m never inspired by this time of year. I’m bored with my cold winter clothes, boots, and coats. However, I refuse to buy more because frankly I don’t need any more sweaters, boots, or coats. It’s too cold to wear spring clothes, plus I hate spring colors. So, I’m mixing and matching my favorite pieces. Over and over and over…

Wearing: Blazer – J. Crew, Tee Shirt – J. Crew, Denim – J. Crew, Boots – Loeffler Randall, Bag – Celine, Necklace – J. Crew.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope everything is going well in your part of the world.

  1. Hello. Go with the gray. It is a pretty shade, maybe a shorter bob! I know it is hard, I have given up but never got as far as you have.

  2. Good Morning! I’m always happy when I see you email in my inbox. No apologies for the winter “blahs”…This is the very first time I’ve given myself permission to hibernate for the long, dreary and heavy month of January…I’ve been practicing “hygge” and lighting the fire, cozying up with books and just reflecting…February will be here in a few days and I can try some new things, and perhaps put away the Christmas decorations!

I like the hair – YOU have to like it! The thing about hair – it’s ever changing and you can do whatever you want! Enjoy!

  3. Yay you on the gym routine! Getting up that early is a real accomplishment! I think your hair will look good gray but in a spiffier cut. Your current cut is good but in gray, I fear it will age you. But as a previous commenter said, you have to like it. Good luck!

  4. Yes, it’s hard to take pictures outside this time of year so I try to find a place indoors. When I went gray I cut my hair short, short, short, like military short, like 1/2 inch long. My husband called me “sarge”. I loved it because it was instantly all one color and women came up to me all the time (all types of women) and complimented me. Also the short cut jarred people rather than the change of color. Glad to see you back here!
